ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a fast growing information technology being established in all different types of medical facilities nationwide. This type of technology allows for health records of patients to be collaborated and maintained in a network database and called upon for a full patient history when needed. This technology allows for faster and more efficient accessibility, improved coordination and quality of care, improved patient satisfaction and quality of life, and decreased cost of care over paper records.

Students of the Electronic Health Record Certificate program will be guided through the process of the Electronic Health Record from assessment and implementation of an EHR to Patient Record Content and Management. Students will receive hands-on training with software currently used by medical professionals in “closed” training sessions. Once the student completes the course, he/she will be versed in the technology, terminology, and procedures required to obtain and maintain an efficient Electronic Health Record. Textbook and CD are included in the cost of the course.
